Math & YOU: A Middle-School Program That Builds Problem-Solving Confidence

When we were looking at resources, one of the most important factors for us was how we could support more effective instructional strategies for our teachers. In reality, we could put any resource in front of teachers and students, but it’s really about how they use it. What stood out to us about Big Ideas Learning was how it supports the most effective, research-based strategies. That’s what ultimately sold us.

I was a total skeptic of Big Ideas at first. As educators, we have seen so many programs come and go, and I didn’t want to invest time into something I thought wouldn’t last. But after seeing it used by teammates, I finally gave it a shot, and I’m telling you, it worked. I was blown away. The Motivate feature got my students talking, collaborating, and truly engaged.

For our teachers, the biggest impact has been the continuity and the ability to access the entire curriculum from kindergarten through high school.

The program gives students different ways to access content and stay on track. It has helped them build responsibility and ownership of their learning.

This program has given me the tools and confidence to be a better math teacher. I love how Laurie’s Notes and the clear targets and objectives guide me to ask the right questions and focus on what matters most.
